Case study · Kaufland.de · DACH
A brand we manage on Amazon added €279,141 in Kaufland.de sales in 12 months. Before we took over its Kaufland account in February 2025, the same listings were selling about €2,000 a month. Same brand, same products, new marketplace.
At a glance
- Client: an established brand we have managed on Amazon since 2023 (name kept confidential).
- Marketplace: Kaufland.de (Kaufland Global Marketplace), selling to DACH buyers.
- Start: February 2025, taking over listings that were already live but under-managed.
- Result: €279,141 in Kaufland sales over the next 12 months, all additional to the brand’s Amazon revenue.
- Run by: Muhammad Daniyal Raza and the EcommTech marketplace team.
What was the situation?
The brand was doing well on Amazon, selling €150,000 to €250,000 a month, but growth there had hit a ceiling: the same buyers, the same competition and the same limits. It already had listings on Kaufland.de, but they were selling only about €2,000 a month.
What did we change?
In February 2025 we took over the Kaufland account and ran it properly instead of treating it as a side channel. We worked to a 7-step playbook built specifically for Kaufland: how its search algorithm ranks offers, how its BuyBox logic works, and how DACH buyers shop. We tracked the same set of metrics every week.
The key lesson: most sellers fail on Kaufland because they treat it like “Amazon in German”. It isn’t. Listings, pricing and service have to be built for Kaufland’s own rules.
- Kaufland’s search algorithm: how Kaufland ranks offers, and building the listings around it rather than copying Amazon content. See Kaufland listing optimisation and ads.
- BuyBox logic: how Kaufland decides which offer wins the BuyBox, and running the account to win it.
- DACH buyer behaviour: how German-speaking buyers search and decide on Kaufland.
- Weekly metrics: the same set of numbers reviewed every week, so changes are measured, not guessed.
The full playbook, with every step in order and the metrics we tracked, is available on request (see below).
What were the results?
| Metric | Before (to January 2025) | 12 months from February 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Kaufland.de sales | About €2,000 a month | €279,141 in total |
| Effect on Amazon | The Kaufland sales were incremental: new revenue on top of the brand’s Amazon business | |
Kaufland Global Marketplace commented publicly on the result: “Congrats on this success!” See the original LinkedIn post and comments.
What does this mean for your brand?
If you sell on Amazon.de and ignore Kaufland, OTTO or Allegro, you are competing in the hardest room and skipping the easier ones. A second marketplace can add revenue from the same products, without fighting harder for the same Amazon buyers.
